GENERAL DESCRIPTION

Bite! Me is a beach front restaurant/bar, a tad upscale (cloth napkins, real plates, glasses and cutlery) and at times a tad outrageous. It features live entertainment and other events such as beach bingo and dance lessons. It is definitely a gay business but, like almost all gay businesses in Vallarta, it is non-exclusive. You can relax in a comfortable beach lounge chair (there is a minimum drink purchase for the lounge) or dine inside. Prices for drinks and food are moderate and well within or slightly below the norm for the area.

Whether you want to just relax, slowly pickling your liver with our excellent selection of cocktails as the sun bronzes your gringo skin, or whether you are more prone to lunatic, maniacal behavior…bite me! beach club will welcome you with open cash registers arms.

To service your every need, our attentive staff will serve you directly on the beach under the ever watchful eye of Grant Hunermund, club director and resident Beach Bitch. Do not tick her off! Oh honey, she will shoot you down in flames and leave your ego battered all to hell!

If you leave bite me! sober and unsatisfied you have not done your job as a valued customer.

GENERAL DESCRIPTION

Apaches is a small bar in the middle of all of the action on Olas Altas in Old Town Vallarta. It’s a casual gay bar, originally leaning toward lesbians, but now popular with everyone. The specialty is martinis but everything is good. Most of the action in this bar is at the hand full of tables on the street. One of the liveliest bars on Olas Altas, not counting the overpowering Andale’s, which it is adjacent to. Prices are moderate: 45 pesos for cocktails, 55 pesos for margaritas, 25 pesos for cervezas. Good quality drinks.

GENERAL DESCRIPTION

Anónimo is a small, hidden bar in the middle of the most popular tourist area of Old Town Puerto Vallarta. Opened in the winter of 2009/2010, it is designed as a neighborhood bar. It is definitely gay-friendly and welcoming to everyone. The prices are extremely low for drinks, although I’d stick to the simple mixed drinks or cerveza until Dan, the owner, refines his bartending skills (he’s new at this; give him some practice…). Dan owns the building and the business so he’s in it for the long run.

GENERAL DESCRIPTION

The Hangout is a small, neighborhood bar off the main streets in Old Town. Most people never notice it if they stick to the traditional tourist paths. It’s an expat bar, Dutch owned and operated. One bartender and enough room for maybe 20 people, at the most. It’s comfortable and inexpensive, a good way to catch a glimpse of expat life here in Vallarta.

GENERAL DESCRIPTION

Alaska’s Diner is not a “normal” tourist hangout not just because it’s about a mile inland from the normal tourist foot paths. It is rather inconspicuous and a little on the chic-shabby side with a very small one-person kitchen and a 5 table dining room. The decor is traditional “greasy spoon.” I’m not saying this as a put down because it’s a very comfortable, neighborhood scene, although some people may be put off by its conscious lack of glitz and glamor. The owner, Alaskan Roger Wark, is a story unto himself.

Alaska’s Diner not really a bar although it is. It serves complete dinners as well as bar food like shepherd’s pie and chili dogs (the best in Vallarta, btw).
