Booze & Realty

Condos, Casas & Cocktails
The 1st and 3rd Mondays of each Month, 5:30 pm, Garbo’s.

Puerto Vallarta – Buying a new home or navigating through the steps needed to obtain a mortgage can be a daunting task in the US or Canada, let alone in a foreign country. Combining their decades of experience, Tropicasa Realty and MEXLend Mortgages have come together to make the process an easy one by answering any and all questions in a relaxing, no pressure environment.

Announcing the creation of Condos, Casas & Cocktails, a free bi-monthly event at Garbo’s co-sponsored by Tropicasa Realty and MEXLend Mortgages. On the first and third Monday of every month at 5:30 pm, Tropicasa and MEXLend will host a 1 hour informal conversation and Q&A about purchasing and financing a home in Mexico. Garbo’s will offer drink specials and light snacks will be provided.

“We have discovered so many people that have questions about how to buy homes here in paradise and what loan options are available here, yet they didn’t want to take the time to set-up a formal meeting in our offices while on vacation, so we created and informal, fun and personal way to answer their questions” stated Wayne Franklin, President of Tropicasa Realty. “This allows one-on-one contact in a casual atmosphere” added David Schwendeman, co-founder and COO of MEXLend.

The public is invited to join in Condos, Casas & Cocktails every 1st & 3rd Monday of each month at Garbo’s for an informal, yet informative conversation and Q&A about purchasing and financing a home in Mexico.

Garbo’s is located at Pulpito 142, south side, across the street from Tropicasa Realty.

2009 Peñitas Surf Tournament » November 13 -15

One of the little known secrets in the area (known only by local surfers), the waves around here in various areas, are top-notch for surfing.

If you are looking for some fun in the sun, attend this exciting surfing tournament in Playa Peñitas! Whether you are a surfer or a “watcher”, these tournaments are exciting, action-packed and well attended by the local surfing communities. The Mexican Association of Surfing is a small, but fast-growing association bringing surfing tourism to the Banderas Bay and local surrounding areas.

Not only does this bring recognition to the amazing beaches of the area, it stimulates the economy in some of the very small beach towns.

This tournament will be covered by Televisa Channel 4 from Guadalajara, featuring it on their show “Espiritu Viajero” (http://www.espirituviajero.tv/)

For information in English, contact Lic. Rolo Romero. Email pvrolomx (at) yahoo.com.mx Cell 044 322 111 0294.

There’s nothing there except for great surf and a beautiful beach and a few empty palapas. We all camp out. Food is provided vendors from Tomatlan or Campo Acosta and/or an improvised sea food tent on the site…
–this sounds like a great time

2009 Viejo Vallarta (Old Town) Dinner and Show » Saturday, November 14

by Bob Cohen

The Association of Neighbors and Businessmen of Colonia Emiliano Zapata (Asociacion De Vecinos Y Empresarios Viejo Vallarta), is hosting their Fifth Annual International Dinner Show on Saturday, November 14th starting at 7 pm at the popular La Iguana Restaurant and Club in Old Town.

Celebrating their five years as a group whose purpose is to make Viejo Vallarta a better place in all aspects, there will be as the previous four years, more than ample delicious food from participating restaurants from Old Town as well as spectacular entertainment from La Voz Sensacional De Chihuahua, Chihuahua Damiana Con Banda, Voces del Mar, Mikki Prost, “Bums on Broadway”, and Ann Marie from the Santa Barbara Theater among others.

Be prepared, as I found out a few years ago, for a long night full of great food, drink and entertainment. True to the Mexican culture, if one gets there at 11 pm, the party will seem like it’s just getting started. The Association is best known for the many large painted maps of Old Town in different strategic locations that direct tourists to all locations of interest, whether they are members of the association or not. Many responses I have heard were that the maps were informative and valuable to those that utilized them.

Tickets are only $300 pesos for the entire evening that will have many restaurants setting up large samples of their house specialties that keep getting replenished throughout the night. For more information, call locally 223-2102, or one can email viejovallarta (at) hotmail.com.

Tickets can also be purchased at Restaurant El Brujo, Papeleria Limon, Restaurant El Torito, Restaurant San Lucas, Teatro Santa Barbara, Restaurant River Café, Restaurant El Calamar Aventurero, Hotel Ana Liz, Mundo de Azulejo, Restaurant Los Arbolitos or Talleres de La Fuente.

Come out and enjoy the great food and entertainment and if you can’t find the locations to buy a ticket, just look it up on one of the many maps in Old Town.
