15 minutos una ciudad

The Yelapa Water Taxi

Yelapa is a small village south of Puerto Vallarta that is accessable easily only by water taxi. At the time of this writing, the round-trip water taxi ride there is 220 pesos. It is well worth it for the 45 minute each way ride. There are thrills, views and humor involved in this ride.

Most people ride to Yelapa in the Morning and take the taxi back to Puerto Vallarta in the evening. Some stay the night at inexpensive, rather rustic “hotels.” There are many restuarants in Yelapa and there’s phone service and internet. The food is generally a step or two above Vallarta’s normal fare in quality, freshness and low cost. The margaritas definitely fall into this quality gap (as you’ll notice towards the end of the video).

Visiting Yelapa isn’t a bad way to spend a day.

Torremolinos 73 » April 9, Free

El Proyector
Cine Club April: Ciclo España
Wednesday, April 9, 8:30pm, Free at the Cuale Cultural Center Auditorium

torremolinos-73THE PLOT: The protagonist, Alfredo López, is an exasperated encyclopedia salesman for Montoya Publishing House and lives with his faithful wife Carmen in 1973 Spain. Carmen and Alfredo are offered by the Montoya Publishing House to create pornographic films that will be imported into Scandinavian countries under the pretense of being an audiovisual encyclopedia of human reproduction. Unknowingly, Carmen becomes an adult film star in the Northern European countries though they are well-paid for their films. In the meantime Alfredo and Carmen are trying to have a child and Carmen discovers that Alfredo has a sperm count of zero.

Inspired to become a film-maker, Alfredo writes a Ingmar Bergman-inspired feature film titled Torremolinos 73. His boss offers to fund the filming of it with Alfredo as director and Carmen as the female star.

At Carmen’s suggestion, Alfredo’s boss changes the final scene so that Carmen is to have sex with her male co-star so as to get herself pregnant. Alfredo eventually accepts this and the film ends with the couple having a daughter, and Alfredo beginning a new career as a wedding film director.

Free Film at the Cuale Cultural Center, Wednesday, April 2, 8:30pm

“To say this film is hot may be the cinematic understatement of the year” – E! Online

“One of the best movies of the year and one of the most erotic movies ever made.” – Jim Svejda, CBS Radio Network

“Brilliant in every respect, ‘Sex and Lucía’ is a rich, rewarding journey. The most wondrous love story in years, it is a great film.” – Tim Merrill, Film Threat

From acclaimed writer/director Julio Medem (Lovers of the Arctic Circle), Sex and Lucia is a visually stunning and thematically adventurous look at passion, elusive relationships and deep bonds between people who thought they were strangers. Featuring the stunning Paz Vega as Lucia.

Want To Be in a Puerto Vallarta Promotional Video?

by Bob Cohen

The Puerto Vallarta Convention and Visitors Bureau recently announced that they’ll be filming a new Puerto Vallarta promotional video on February 18th, and they’re inviting all PV locals, part-time residents and even tourists to represent our fine city.

First thing to mention is there is no pay involved; anyone that gets selected just receives their “15 minutes of fame.” When completed, the video will be used to promote Puerto Vallarta as a world-class tourist destination in cities around the world.

Since Vallarta is a beach vacation destination that attracts visitors from all walks of life, everyone is invited to audition for the video; kids, men and women and couples in their 20s, 30s, 40s, 50s, 60s, and families with kids.

All you have to do is stop by the Puerto Vallarta Convention and Visitors Bureau offices to have your picture taken this coming Monday, February 18th between 4 and 6 pm.

After reviewing all of the photos, the bureau will be in contact with those who have been selected for inclusion in the video. More details will be given about the selection process when we are made aware of them.

If you’d like to be considered for inclusion in the promotional video, stop by the Puerto Vallarta Convention and Visitors Bureau offices at Plaza Las Glorias #18, right next door to the Canto Del Sol Resort in the Puerto Vallarta hotel zone.

For more information, directions or answers to your questions in English, call Nora Ocegueda at (322) 224-1175, visit VisitPuertoVallarta.com or send an email to nora(at)visitpuertovallarta.com.
