Leno Morfin’s The Dreams to See » gallery opening, June 5

Mexican painter Leno Morfin is coming back to Mexico, and you can meet him at the opening of his new art show, ‘The Dreams to See’ at the Puerto Vallarta Public Library, Biblioteca Los Mangos, on June 5th at 8 pm. Complimentary drinks and snacks will be offered.

Leno will also be offering free art workshops on traditional Chinese water-print painting at the library on June 6th and 13th at 11 am.

Leno was born in the Sierra Madre of Jalisco, at the age of sixteen, his family immigrated to the United States. After many years in Chicago the artist comes back to Mexico. Among his future plans is a tour in Mexican museums together with the French artist Louis Durot with whom Leno has been exhibiting throughout the world.

Lorena Ochoa Promotes Puerto Vallarta

As part of the ‘Vive Mexico‘ campaign initiated by President Felipe Calderón to promote and reactivate the country’s tourism industry after the recent international economic and health situations, the world’s #1 LPGA player, Lorena Ochoa, will be in Puerto Vallarta this Saturday.

t-shirtsThe public is invited to come out and watch her play at the Vista Vallarta Jack Nicklaus Golf Course on Saturday May 30th, 2009 at 10 am. There will also be a golf clinic hosted by Rafael Alarcon (Lorena’s Coach) starting at 9:15 am on the driving range.

At 5:30 pm, Lorena will be at the Los Arcos Amphitheater in downtown Puerto Vallarta, where she will be named an official Tourist Ambassador by the Jalisco Secretary of Tourism. As this event is designed to promote tourism in Puerto Vallarta, thousands of T-shirts will be distributed sporting the Secretariat of Tourism’s new publicity campaign slogan.

Cruz Roja Rummage Sale » May 28 to 31

The Puerto Vallarta Red Cross Hosts a Rummage Sale to Raise Funds, May 28 to 31.

cruz rojaThe local chapter of the Red Cross (Cruz Roja Mexicana) needs money for critical supplies and blood, and they have organized a rummage sale at Las Palomas Restaurant to help raise the necessary funds.

Deliver any items you wish to sell to Las Palomas Restaurant on the Malecón and 15% of the sales proceeds will be donated to the Red Cross. You can keep the rest or you can donate that amount also. Clothes, costume jewelry, furniture, decorative items, and anything else that you think someone would buy, are welcome.

Items should be delivered to Las Palomas by May 27. The sale will be held daily from May 28 to May 31 from 10:00 am to 7:00 pm.

The U.S. Consulate General Guadalajara Regional Security Officer and U.S. Consular Agency of Puerto Vallarta wish to invite the English speaking community (residents and visitors) to a Town Meeting with Mexican Authorities in Puerto Vallarta.
