2011 Puerto Vallarta Carnaval – Mardi Gras Parade

The most flamboyant, outrageous, exciting parade of the year in Puerto Vallarta is just around the corner. On Saturday, March 5, starting at 10 pm, the streets of South side Puerto Vallarta will come alive with a public spectacle rarely seen in this sleepy little tourist town by the bay – the 2011 Carnaval Parade.

httpv://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_9C54iZtvzM

The streets of Olas Altas and Basilio Badillo will be the route for this year’s parade. 2011 is the third year of the Puerto Vallarta Carnaval Parade and this year it will be bigger and more colorful than ever with over 40 floats already entered. This year, for the first time, there is a 5000 peso prize for the best float.

The parade is open to any concept from simple walking groups to large truck and trailer floats. Music, dancing and beautiful bodies will be the rule of the day (…night).

If any business or organization is interested in entering a float or in sponsoring a prize for any of several categories of “best” float, please contact a member of the parade committee through the Carnaval website, CarnavalVallarta.com.

Float entries fees are only $300 pesos and official non-profit organizations can enter without a fee.

Both the Vallarta gay and straight communities come out of the closet, so to speak, decked in their finest, for this parade. It’s flashy and fun for anyone of any age. Celebrate Mardi Gras the way it was intended and strut your stuff on Carnaval night, Saturday, March 5, 2011.

The 2011 Puerto Vallarta Mardi Gras Parade will be held on Saturday, March 5, beginning at 10 pm. To signup for a position in this parade, go to this webpage: CARNAVAL PARADE SIGNUP

Biking for Vallarta » February 14

by Roberto Angel P. Zepeda – mundoceiba.com
February 10, 2010

biking routeWe are pleased to announce that Mundo Ceiba A.C. activities will officially begin in Puerto Vallarta with the 1st Biking for Vallarta Sunday Ride on February 14th. We invite you to join us and be a part of this movement that seeks to promote cycling as a form of mobility in our city.

Mundo Ceiba is a non-profit Asociación Civil Ecológica that promotes biking as a healthy alternative for transportation. In Oaxaca, many steps have already been made and now the movement is expanding to the Banderas Bay area.

On February 14th from from 9-11 am, a 2 km circuit on Fluvial Vallarta will be open exclusively for bikes, so bring your whole family and enjoy a day of love for cycling with us! Rental bikes will be available for those who do not own one, and there will also be a Yoga Class, eco-themed educational activities for children and their parents, and music. The 2 km bike route begins at Av. Jesus Rodriguez Barba and the corner of Fluvial Vallarta Gardens.

Taking the first step to adapt bicycling as a form of daily transportation is not easy, it takes a great effort to break the barriers of a culture that does not cycle. Many people think that the idea is crazy, or minimize the importance of making this activity a part of daily life.

Biking is without a doubt clean transportation which also helps to alleviate the traffic problems in every city that is not planned for the imminent growth of automobiles and public transportation. We thank all those who from the beginning helped us to create and support this movement.

If you have any questions, suggestions, or if you are interested in participating or supporting the movement in any way, please contact Roberto Lopez Fabiola Zepeda at mundoceiba @ gmail.com.
