White Walk for Tourism » May 23

On Saturday, May 23 at 5 pm, citizens and visitors of Puerto Vallarta are encouraged to meet at the parking lot of the Holiday Inn to begin a parade, a march en masse to Los Arcos Amphitheater in the City Center exhibiting for the media the image that Puerto Vallarta is still welcoming and safe for tourists.

People, both in the march and not, are encouraged to wear white and businesses are also encouraged to hang white table clothes out of windows, presenting to the world a unified color.

The idea is to gather as many people as possible and march towards the city center, so that the media will show the world that the town is free of the influenza virus and suitable for tourism.

LOW SEASON BARGAIN OF THE WEEK: I know Cafe Roma is an advertiser here but I would post this special of his even if he had a contract out on me. For the rest of the low season (or until he can’t take it anymore): 5 peso beer (regular size Corona y Pacifico) and 5 peso tequila shots, in any quantity for two people with the purchase of any 4 ingredient pizza (at the normal price of 109 pesos). No catches. No bull. Just order a pizza and start partying. This is a real deal, assuming, of course, that you like pizza, beer and/or tequila.

AND: Super Boy is at the Circus at the Fluvial and the Airport Road for this week for only 30 pesos, or so I’ve heard from a roving car announcement. How can you beat that?

Cat Trap & Sterilize Training » May 12

SPCA-PV is beginning its feral cat trap-sterilize-release program in Puerto Vallarta and will have its first training session Tuesday, May 12 at 4 p.m. at Hacienda San Angel, 336 Miramar in El Cerro, above the Cathedral de Guadalupe.

  • The average number of litters a fertile cat can have a year: 3
  • The average number of kittens: 5
  • In 7 years, 1 cat and her offspring can produce 420,000 cats

A sterilization program is key to reducing the number of uncared for and abandoned cats in Puerto Vallarta.

If you live in a neighborhood with a population of feral cats, and you would like to learn how to trap wild cats and participate in the program, contact Janice Chatterton at A href=”mailto:info@haciendasanangel.com”>info (at) haciendasanangel.com. Also, please contact Janice if you know anyone who feeds feral cats on a regular basis.

SPCA-PV will have its first trapping day Sunday, May 17. Surgery will take place Monday, May 18.
