Festival Nacional de Danza Folclórica
From 13 to 16 April, 10 dance groups with a total of 350 dancers from nine states in Mexico will participate in the Fifth National Folk Dance Festival, Puerto Vallarta, said conference organizer Juan Antonio Salcedo.
Salcedo, the director of the Ballet Folklorico Azteca Vallarta, the person responsible for organizing the festival, explained that all shows are free and that the repertoire of each participating group is traditional to the region it represents.
“Every dance group must participate with a repertoire that should last 45 minutes total with pieces representative of the state they represent. Many times the pieces and choreography of each group represents the result of intense research, which makes this very interesting festival.”
Accompanied by Selene Mora, administrative coordinator of the Festival, Salcedo added that this event will be attended by groups from the states of Coahuila, Sinaloa, Sonora, Tlaxcala, San Luis Potosi, Michoacan, Jalisco, Baja California Sur and Queretaro.
Another peculiarity of this festival is that, in addition to main stage Los Arcos de Vallarta, there will also be presentations at four other local venues.
