The first Festival Hablemos de Nuestra Lengua, will be held from February 17 to 21 at the Cultural Center.
The primary objective of this event is to recognize different indigenous groups as a national and local reality through cultural activities such as music, poetry, dance and oral tradition.
The festival program will be each day from 10 am to 1 pm, with different cultural workshops on creating jewelry with stones and beads, dynamic learning of Indigenous Languages and weaving with the backstrap loom.
In the afternoons from 6 pm there will be a wealth of artistic activities, such as indigenous dances, regional music, oral tradition in different languages, a demonstration of a Náhuatl traditional wedding and the peyote dance, among other events.
On Thursday, February 18, at 9 am National Anthem in the Wixarika language will be sung and on Sunday February 21, International Mother Language Day, from 6 pm, will be the closing of the event with a grand concert by different groups of indigenous musicians including Wixarika, Andean, and others.
