Behind the Scene

Arts & Entertainment in Puerto Vallarta

El que por su gusto corre, nunca se cansa

This PV Scene is the byproduct of an empiric, hedonistic, humanistic philosophy of life. And of a love of México. This site covers the basics of Puerto Vallarta, many of the standard tourista (both Gringo and National) attractions and events, as well as occasionally slipping and sliding onto the rather extensive and varied underbelly of this sleepy little Mexican beach town.

One of the things we are trying to do with this website is to integrate the foreign Gringo community into the local National community by posting many events that are outside of the normal Gringo tourista lifestyle. A modest command of the Spanish language is helpful for most of these activities, although it is quite possible to experience total immersion and appreciation without this skill. It’s a bit like being deaf, not speaking Spanish in Mexico, and finding that there can be life, and a very exciting life at that, without aural comprehension. Humans have quite a few other senses beyond hearing and this is an extremely sensual culture.

Another of the things we are trying to do with this website is to integrate the Gay and the Straight communities. Language is immaterial to this effort; the connection is individual humanity.

WHO WE ARE

Rick Hepting has published several monthly magazines (none which has been described as ‘orthodox’) as well as a quite ‘normal’ weekly newspaper in Oakland, California. He has worked as a journalist for small newspapers in Santa Cruz, Oakland, San Francisco and Mendocino California. He also owned and operated Berkeley Type, a commercial advertising, typesetting & design studio in Berkeley, California for 10 years. Rick is the editor and does most of the day-to-day writing on this site. He’s also the webmaster.

Sarah Hepting is an artist and commercial photographer and she does the schlep work on this website. The PVScene wouldn’t exist without her skills, talent and perseverance.

SUBMISSIONS

If you have an idea for a story, email us. If you are an artist or photographer, we are happy to give exposure to your events or projects. We encourage the submission of articles related to the Vallarta Arts and Entertainment scene. Please submit articles or photos to ojorojo @ pvscene.com.

ADVERTISING

We accept advertising. Contact us for rates. We have many forms and price ranges and can easily tailor ads to fit any campaign, need or budget. We offer free display advertising for select non-profit groups and organizations.

WEB DESIGN AND MAINTENANCE

If you like what you see here, take that as a hint that we can design websites. We specialize in designing websites that will effectively promote your business or art with no limitations on content or size. Our portfolio may be seen at www.xlibre.com.

We also maintain and upgrade established websites, keeping them current and their images intact. We can manage any type of website within its original design and intent. SEO is our specialty.

And, probably most importantly, we are very competitive in pricing.

PRIVACY POLICY

Our privacy policy is very simple: We believe strongly in privacy and do not sell, rent, give or trade any personal information, including, but not limited to, email addresses and browsing data, from this website to or with anyone under any circumstances.

We author or send no spam or direct advertising or any communications of any type without the expressed permission of the receiver. All financial interaction with this website is through the individual vendors (Amazon.com, AllPosters.com, PayPal, the advertisers, etc) and is protected by their security systems. We handle no private financial information directly on The PV Scene.

AMAZON.COM, etc

We sell items (books, art and music) from Amazon.com and AllPosters.com on a commission basis. All financial interaction is through the companies we are affiliated with. We receive a small percentage commission from each sale. We offer selected Amazon.com products through our MERCADO.

The prices you pay going to these vendors through our website are exactly the same as you would pay going to them directly.

We hope you enjoy our service and find it useful. We love what we do.
Gracias,

Rick Hepting
