SUNDAY February 2

  • 3er CAMPEONATO NACIONAL CHARRO 2014 — A championship rodeo at Arena Vallarta. 100 – 200 pesos.
  • VIA RECREACTIVA — 8 am to 2 pm. From the Sports Stadium to the Holiday Inn, Fco. Medina Ascencio (the main airport road) will be closed to traffic for a public walk, bicycle, run. Traffic will be diverted to the laterals.
  • MERCADO HUANACAXTLE — 9 am to 2 pm in the La Cruz Marina.
  • SUNSET MILONGA — 4:30 to 8 pm at the Hotel Rosita, at the top of the Malecon. Free tango lessons from 4:30 to 5:30 and then tango dancing until 8. Food and drink available for purchase.
  • CONCERT — Municipal Band, beginning at 6 pm, Presidencia Square, FREE
  • PUBLIC DANCE — the Sunday Evening Dance, 7 pm, traditional dancing to live music in the Presidencia Square, FREE
  • THE MALECÓN — When the sun goes down, the Malecón comes alive. Come out and stroll the Malecon. It’s a Sunday tradition here.

MONDAY February 3

  • DÍA de la CONSTITUCIÓN — National holiday. Banks, schools, government offices closed. Parade in Centro in the morning. This is the celebration day. The real date is February 5.

TUESDAY February 4

  • MALECON SCULPTURE WALKING TOUR — 9:30 am. Gary Thompson leads the best free art tour in Vallarta. Discover the real stories behind the many sculptures on our Malecon.
  • IFC HOME TOURS — 10:30 am. Benefits the charity programs of the International Friendship Club. Leaves from the Sea Monkey on Los Muertos beach. 450 pesos.

WEDNESDAY February 5

  • IFC HOME TOURS — 10:30 am. Benefits the charity programs of the International Friendship Club. Leaves from the Sea Monkey on Los Muertos beach. 450 pesos.
  • CENTRO VALLARTA ART WALK — 6 to 10 pm, visit 10 of Vallarta’s finest galleries in a casual evening of cocktails and art. Meet the artists. Free.

THURSDAY February 6

  • VALLARTA SCENE EXPAT MEETUP — 5 pm to 8 pm at Langostino’s on Los Muertos Beach. A lively *extended* informal happy hour get-together for expats, visitors and nationals. Everyone is invited.
  • MARINA VALLARTA FARMERS MARKET — 6 to 10 pm on the boardwalk.
  • LECTURE — 7 pm at the IFC. Genetically Modified Organisms: Science vs. Capitalism. Plant biologist Eric Davies will help separate the science behind GMOs–which can do much good–from the marketing practices of those who wish to control and profit from GMOs—which can do much damage. $50 donation at the door helps fund IFC charities.
  • CONCERT — Municipal Band, 7 pm, Presidencia Square, FREE

FRIDAY February 7

  • SOUTHSIDE SHUFFLE — 6 to 10 pm on Basilio Badillo. Wandering musicians, food and drink provided by the local galleries and businesses. An open house/open street. Free. Every other Friday through April 4.

SATURDAY February 8

  • SATURDAY FARMERS MARKET — At the Paradise Community Center on Pulpito in Old Town. 9 to 1 pm. Year-round (this is the “alternative market”).
  • ADOPTON — 9 am to 7 pm at the Presidencia. Many animal adoption organizations are present to offer dogs and cats for adoption.
  • VALLARTA TOURIST FARMERS MARKET — 9:30 am to 2 pm at the L. Cardenas Park (This is the “official city-sponsored market”).
  • DOGS & CATS — SPCA Pet Adoptions, Los Mangos Library, 10 am to 2 pm.
  • PV WRITERS GROUP — PV Writers Group Meeting at the Boutique Theatre, on Basilio Badillo, corner of Naranjo just before the small tunnel., at 10:30 am til noon.

  • MEDICAL MATTERS 2014 — 9 am to 5 pm at the Hotel Marriott Casamagna. A vast array of medical-related services exhibits & representatives. Non-stop speakers programs all day at NO CHARGE to the public.
