SUNDAY April 28
- VIA RECREACTIVA — 8 am to 2 pm. From the Sports Stadium to the Holiday Inn, Fco. Medina Ascencio (the main airport road) will be closed to traffic for a public walk, bicycle, run. Traffic will be diverted to the laterals.
- LA CRUZ FARMERS MARKET (MERCADO HUANACAXTLE) — 10 am to 2 pm at the La Cruz Marina.
- 1st ANNUAL VALLARTA OYSTER FEST — 3 to 10 pm at Restaurant Mordidas, Manantial 375, Colonia Buenos Aires. Inexpensive fresh oysters plus traditional and experimental oyster recipes. A new local event for oyster lovers.
- SUNSET MILONGA — 4:30 to 8 pm at the Hotel Rosita, at the top of the Malecon. Free tango lessons from 4:30 to 5:30 and then tango dancing until 8. Food and drink available for purchase.
- CONCERT — Municipal Band, beginning at 6 pm, Presidencia Square, FREE
- PUBLIC DANCE — the Sunday Evening Dance, 7 pm, traditional dancing to live music in the Presidencia Square, FREE
- INTERNATIONAL FOLKLORIC DANCE FESTIVAL — 8 pm at Los Arcos Amphitheater. Different folkdance groups from around Mexico each night. Free
- THE MALECÓN — When the sun goes down, the Malecón comes alive. Come out and stroll the Malecon. It’s a Sunday tradition here.
MONDAY April 29
TUESDAY April 30
- TOURS OF CENTRO VALLARTA — at 9 am and noon beginning at the old city hall. Free tours of downtown Vallarta with professional tour guides. The tours include iconic points, galleries, craft markets and some shops and / or restaurants.
WEDNESDAY May 1
- MAY DAY – PRIMERO de MAYO — National Holiday. Banks, government offices and schools are closed.
- LABOR DAY PARADE — Union workers will parade down Juarez to the Presidencia. 10s of thousands of marchers. Downtown streets will be disrupted most of the day.
- VALLARTA EN BICI — Every Wednesday 100s of bicyclists ride from the Whale sculpture at the Marina to the Malecon. 9 pm. Free.
THURSDAY May 2
- VALLARTA SCENE EXPAT MEETUP — 5 pm to 8 pm at Langostino’s on Los Muertos Beach. A lively *extended* informal happy hour get-together for expats, visitors and nationals. Everyone is invited but this is widely known as the “Motley Crew” meetup.
- CONCERT — Municipal Band, 7 pm, Presidencia Square, FREE
FRIDAY May 3
- DIA de la SANTA CRUZ — Unfinished buildings and construction sites are topped with decorated crosses to protect the workers on this day. There is a street fair at the Santa Cruz Church on Cardenas and Aquacate. Fireworks at night.
- XUITLA BALLET — 7:30 pm in Lazaro Cardenas Park. Folkloric Dance. Free.
SATURDAY May 4
- SATURDAY FARMERS MARKET — At the Paradise Community Center on Pulpito in Old Town. 9 to 1 pm. Year-round (this is the “alternative market”).
- VALLARTA TOURIST FARMERS MARKET — 9:30 am to 2 pm at Caranza and Pino Suarez (This is the “official city-sponsored market”).
- DOGS & CATS — SPCA Pet Adoptions, Los Mangos Library, 10 am to 2 pm.
- LITERARY — PV Writers Group Meeting at Los Mangos Library at 10:30 am.
SUNDAY May 5

- Altruism Festival — 6 pm at the CasaMagna Marriott. 300 pesos advance and 400 at the door.
