Bingo for Beans and Babies » Thursdays July 9 to October 1
Bite me! Beach Club, in conjunction with PVRPV and Xocodiva, will host “Bingo for Beans & Babies” every Thursday from 6-9 pm, July 9 through October 1, in their ocean-front lounge on Playa Los Muertos.

Each week will feature guest callers, game prizes, and a 50/50 draw. Bingo cards are a bargain at only $50 pesos for the night or 3 for $100 pesos. A special menu is being created by Bite me!’s talented chef and drinks, of course, are available.
The evenings will be hosted by Grant Hunermund who is sure to add some unexpected moments and outrageous fun to the proceedings.
Help support the community food drive by bringing donations of dried beans or lentils, pasta, rice and bouillon cubes (Knorr or other). 100% of monies raised and all cash donations will go to help support Pasitos de Luz (www.pasitosdeluz.org), an organization dedicated to serving neurologically handicapped children from economically disadvantaged homes in the Puerto Vallarta area. Offering day care services, meals and educational stimulation to over 60 children, Pasitos de Luz, is a family run organization. Their dedicated team makes a huge difference to the quality of life of not only the kids but the families as well.
The wrap party, October 1, will be a gigantic bash to thank all who have contributed to “Bingo for Beans & Babies.”
Wear your best and most outrageous Bowler, Bonnet or Ballcap. Winning hat will receive a huge door prize. A special performance by singer Kim Kuzma (www.kimkuzma.com) will highlight the party and draws will be made for all the exciting raffle prizes.
With some prizes at a value of over $1200.00 USD the raffle ticket price of $50 pesos is assured to please. Bite me! will be at it again with free nibbles throughout the night. Dance, laugh and have FUN FUN FUN.
Why, oh Why, are you an Expat?
Hola!
I was recently contacted by a professor at the University of Texas at San Antonio, who is conducting a survey about expats retiring in Mexico.
“The University of Texas at San Antonio (UTSA) is conducting a survey on “Cultural Adaptation and Quality of Life of American Retirees Living in Mexico and the Philippines.” We are collecting data from U.S. born or naturalized citizens who are 55 years and above and living in Mexico for at least 6 months.
The purpose of this survey is to determine why U.S. retirees decide to move to another country and how well they adjust to a new culture. The study is conducted by Professors Viviana Rojas and Thankam Sunil from The University of Texas at San Antonio, U.S.A. Your answers will contribute to a better understanding of the dynamics of U.S. emigration outside the United States and the level of satisfaction experienced by the retirees living at international locations.”
I offered to help them get a group together in Puerto Vallarta. This will help them and me, as well, because I am starting a new series of video stories, Boomers in the Bay, and this would be a great time to get some interviews.
We are meeting Thursday, July 9, at 11 am at Daiquiri Dick’s on the patio. They say the survery takes around 30-40 minutes to complete.
If you could join us, that be would fantastic! Please RSVP, so I can have some idea as to the number of people taking part in this. Hey, it’s a great way to see old friends again and maybe make new ones. Let’s show some community spirit!
Thanks in advance.

National Tree Day, July 9
THURSDAY, JULY 9TH: NATIONAL TREE DAY
JULY: NATIONAL REFORESTATION MONTH
In 1951, the second Thursday of the month of July was designated as “National Tree Day” in Mexico. On July 7, 1959 the entire month of July was declared “National Reforestation Month.”
In Puerto Vallarta, all residents are encouraged to begin a home garden of local trees from seed, transplanting those seedlings in the field when the tree has reached 1 meter in height. Watering the tree in the field during the dry season will ensure that the tree will survive for many years to come.
To celebrate National Tree Day Grupo Ecológico de Puerto Vallarta, A.C. will be giving free seeds of local trees at the Presidencia Square on Thursday, July 9th, 10:00 a.m. – 6:00 p.m. with additional information for planting
Help keep Puerto Vallarta green and growing!
