POSTSCRIPT
Checked out this band on Thursday night at Los Arcos and they are good. Cumbia plus. The energy on stage was jumping. They are much better than any of the videos of them. Very solid and talented.

Sherele, Guadalajara’s premier Klezmer band will be performing at the Los Arcos Amphitheater on Wednesday, May 7 at 8 pm. FREE

Sherele is a klezmer ensemble; an East European-Jewish traditional genre that combines exceptional emotional and spiritual richness. Its rhythmic liveliness, melodic strength and great expressivity, combined with its emphasis on improvisation and spontaneous interactions, make it a great medium for the flourishing of a universal spirit. As one of the very few klezmer groups in Mexico and the only one (yet) in Guadalajara, Sherele enthusiastically engages and transmits this ancestral musical tradition that enjoys a contemporary re-birth and vogue because of its inherent cross-cultural character.
Sherele is a quartet that combines the diverse geographies and cultures of its musicians. The experience of living abroad, of engaging different cultures and of both questioning and missing a homeland, inevitably determine and nurture Sherele’s interpretation of klezmer music. Sherele’s arrangements of traditional klezmer repertoire often combine elements from jazz, tango, rock and Argentine and Mexican folklores.

JEROME MURAT will perform at the Los Arcos Amphitheater on Saturday, May 3 at 9pm. I hate mimes (editorial opinion…), but this guy is spectacular. Free.
Be there on time because the show lasts only 12 minutes (well really, how long can even a spectacular mime show be?).
