Marcella Lepe Creates a children’s play called “Lichita”

Lichita (La Bosita) is a drama for the whole family, featuring the young acting troupe of Manuel Lepe, Karen Alvaro, Brenda Macedo, Carlos Hernandez, Valeria Rodriguez and Solis Adalya.

The original music for Lichita is by well-known producer, Charlie Santana. The play is 30 minutes long and is aimed at reaching all of the children of Vallarta to explain the concept of waste separation within the new program of separation of garbage in the city and its colonias.

Marcella Lepe Quiroz, the daughter of the famous Vallarta artist Manuel Lepe, was invited by Mayor Javier Bravo to head this project to reach the children of Vallarta in a manner that would clearly and simply explain the new and radical city program of garbage recycling.

The play premieres at the Los Arcos Amphitheater on Sunday, September 20 at 7:30 pm. Admission is free and all children of the city are encouraged to attend. Adults, of course, are encouraged to attend, also.

Presentations will also be made in Vallarta schools starting September 15 and in Ixtapa schools starting September 18.

The Mexican Jumping Bean

Los Brincadores
Frijoles Saltarines
Haricots Sauters

The Mexican jumping bean (Laspeyresia Saltitans) comes from the mountains in the states of Sonora, Sinaloa, and Chihuahua. Alamos, Sonora, styles itself the “Jumping Bean Capital of the World,” where the host tree, Sebastiana pavoniana, grows. During the spring, moths emerge from last year’s beans and deposit their eggs on the flower of this tree.

The beans “jump” because the larva inside moves to try to take its host bean out of heat or light.
