The Amazing Race 16 » Puerto Vallarta

Updated February 22, 2010

Elimination Station is a web show on CBS.com where eliminated contestants from the networks highly-rated show, Amazing Race, live together to share their behind-the-scenes stories.

RoadBlockThe network and web show premiered February 14 and, this season, their sequester location is here in Puerto Vallarta. As you follow each of the web shows (over several weeks and months), you’ll certainly recognize lots of Southside locations and “characters.”

Each new episode debuts immediately after Sunday night’s Amazing Race episode. Morgan Adams, Tim Longpre from PVRPV and Gary Green coordinated all of the local tours, activities, transportation and housing at the unbelievable 24,000 sq. ft. Villa Quinta Laura in lower Conchas Chinas.

AMAZING RACE 16:

Eleven Teams depart L.A., where Racers find themselves dangling 120 feet in the air, battling exhaustion and their fear of heights in order to stay alive in the game, and one Team discovers that Brazilian currency will not get them very far in Chile….

The following videos are the after-show activities of each week’s losers.

Becas

Tickets: 200 pesos (booked in advance and on sale now), or 250 pesos at the door.

Becas Vallarta A.C. is pleased to present once again this unique and sought-after event in its second year, which celebrates both academic and music education in our community in one of the most enchanting surroundings of Puerto Vallarta.

This year’s feature are another two of Vallarta’s own artists, the guitarist Mario Blanco and pianist Adriana Martínez.

Mario Blanco himself is well known in our city’s musical circles as a competent guitarist and trova singer performing in his own café “Blanco y Negro” in the Hotel Zone nightly. Mostly self-taught, this will be one of his first ventures into classical music – and what better way than to concertise alongside his daughter, Adriana Martinez.

Talented Adriana Martinez, on the other hand, was encouraged to become concert pianist by local pianist Antoine Lecomte. And finding no qualified piano teacher in Vallarta, she promptly applied and was accepted to the Institute of Fine Arts of the University of Colima where she is completing her fourth semester toward a Bachelor of Music in Performance with Dr. Anatoli Zatin.

Even while attending master classes in 2005 and 2006 with various intenationally known teachers such as Anna Poklevska, Mikhail Markov, Elena Vassileva… in Colima, Adriana is a regular soloist with the University’s Fine Arts Chamber Orchestra.

With such a novel and delightful line-up, how can anyone afford not to come and celebrate this promising Valentine musical soiree with us and show whole-hearted support and love for these dual worthy causes!
