Russian State Ballet in Puerto Vallarta
Presently on tour throughout Mexico, and making stops in over 20 cities, the Russian State Ballet will perform in Puerto Vallarta’s recently-inaugurated Teatro Vallarta on Thursday, May 13, at 8:30 pm.

Founded in 1978, the classical ballet company is based at the Krasnoyarsk State Opera and features graduates of choreographic schools in Moscow, St. Petersburg, Kiev, Novosibirsk and Yekaterinburg.

The program will feature a dance interpretation of Carl Orff’s popular scenic cantata, “Carmina Burana,” based on 24 medieval poems from the collection with the same name. In addition, the Russian State Ballet will perform a Classical Ballet Gala, featuring selections from some of the most popular ballets, such as Tchaikovsky’s “Sleeping Beauty,” “The Nutcracker,” and Ludwig Minkus’ “Don Quixote” among others.

Tickets are $400 pesos per person, general seating, and $600 for VIP choice seats, available at the Teatro Vallarta box office. For more information, visit www.teatrovallarta.com.

OBJETIVO
Mejorar el comportamiento ambiental; es decir, reducir el consumo de recursos naturales, alargar la vida de los materiales y disminuir la cantidad de contaminación.

TEMAS

• MACETA ECOLÓGICA

• ESCULTURAS

CATEGORÍAS

Categoría A: Estudiantes de primaria y secundaria, individual o colectivo (MAX.15 personas).

Categoría B: Población en general, individual o colectivo (MAX.15 personas).

BASES

1.-Utilización de materiales reciclados (llantas, latas de aluminio, botes de plástico, corcholatas, etc.)
2.-Reaprovechamiento de productos fuera de uso.
3.- Las medidas de los proyectos no deberán ser menor de 1.00 metro
4.- Las ideas deberán de ser innovadoras.

PREMIOS
• Exposición de las obras dentro del marco del Festival Cultural de Mayo en la Isla del Río Cuale.
• Posteriormente las obras se ubicarán en uno o en varios Parques.
• Regalos por parte de los patrocinadores.

Born Into Brothels » April 4

This Sunday`s 7:30 pm “Screening on Canvas” at Studio Leno Morfin the director of the Trinchera Film School, Esteban Uyarra shows the documentary “Born into Brothels” by Ross Kauffman and Zana Briski.
Screening is on the open-air rooftop, please come warm and comfy, and be on time! Cost recovery fee 30 pesos.

The film is the winner of the 2005, 77th annual, Academy Award for Best Documentary Feature. A tribute to the resiliency of childhood and the restorative power of art, Born into Brothels is a portrait of several unforgettable children who live in the red light district of Calcutta, where their mothers work as prostitutes. Zana Briski, a New York-based photographer, gives each of the children a camera and teaches them to look at the world with new eyes.

Recuerdos del Paraíso
Recuerdos del Paraíso, Memories of Paradise, a play, will take place every Saturday and Sunday of April at the Cuale Cultural Center Auditorium at 8 pm. In Spanish.

The entrance will cost 80 pesos.

In this story Carmen and Antonia will unveil their memories and surface landscapes and faces of other times as they carefully review a family album. Possibly we will recognize ourselves in their memories.
