Democrats Abroad Election Party On The Beach » November 4

By Paul Crist

The election campaign in the United States is FINALLY in its last days. An unusually long Primary Election season has been followed by an intense General Election campaign. On Election Night, Tuesday November 4, Restaurant Marazul and the Costa Banderas Chapter of Democrats Abroad Mexico have teamed up to celebrate the conclusion of this historic election in the U.S.

On election night, all are invited, regardless of party affiliation or citizenship status, to come out and enjoy an outstanding buffet supper at the beautiful new Restaurant Marazul. Election results will be monitored on a giant-screen TV, with the beautiful Los Muertos Beach and the Bay of Banderas as a backdrop.

Doors open at 8PM, and it is expected that the event will conclude around midnight, assuming the winner of the Presidential election is known by that hour.

Restaurant Marazul, located on the beach directly in front of the Parque Lazaro Cardenas in the Zona Romantica will present an outstanding buffet dinner from 9 PM to 10:30 PM, including:

  • Fresh sea bass filled with shrimp in a guajillo salsa with a touch of cream
  • Jamaica glazed shrimp
  • Chicken curry
  • Pork in Pomegranate salsa
  • Salmon mousse stuffed chiles
  • Clam soup
  • Rice and sautéed vegetables
  • CASH BAR

After dinner, attendees are encouraged to mingle with new and old friends as we await the final word on who will be the next President of the United States (and so usher in CHANGE WE CAN BELIEVE IN!).

Cost of the event is $350 pesos with advance reservation, or $400 pesos without prior reservation. Cash bar available all night. After 10 pm, people may attend the event for 50 peso cover charge. This price includes no food or drink.

With a buffet of delicious international cuisine prepared by one of Vallarta’s premier new chefs, this is sure to be an unforgettable evening!

Restaurant Marazul is located at Olas Altas #336, Zona Romantica.

Reserve NOW! This will be an historic night, and it should be shared with friends old and new! Years from now, people will be asking, “Where were you when the winner was declared in the Presidential elections of 2008?”

Your answer should be “I was at a gala event in Puerto Vallarta, overlooking the beach. There was a gorgeous sunset that evening, and the people had come out to celebrate a new era in American history!”

Benefit for Gib Hauersperger » Club Manana, Oct 22

Que Raro!, Club Mañana and Bar Frida are throwing a fundraiser for Gib on Wednesday, October 22nd.

Gib Hauersperger has been serving tourists here as a gay concierge for years. Recently, Gib has had some very serious medical issues resulting in multiple surgeries.

The fundraiser will be held at Club Mañana on Wed. Oct. 22 from 6 – 9 PM. Manana’s restaurant, Que Raro, will be putting out a very nice buffet and Frida will be supplying the wine. The suggested minimum donation for the event is $250 pesos.

There will be a cash bar for those who desire but the food, wine and soft drinks are included. Alec Mapa, the famous gay comedian and star of Ugly Betty and Desperate Housewives will perform. There will also be a silent auction. Neither Club Mañana, Frida nor Mr. Mapa will be accepting any of the funds – 100% of the proceeds goes to Gib’s medical bills.

EPILOGUE

An outpouring of love for Gib was apparent on Wednesday evening as over 150 people descended on Que Raro!! and Club Manana for the benefit dinner. Gib gave a beautiful thank you speech from the stage followed by an amazing performance by the indomitable Alec Mapa. He had the audience in stitches. In addition to the entry donation, the silent auction and additional individual donations 60,000 pesos was raised for Gib’s medical care. Immense thanks goes out to everyone involved but particularly Tom and Luis of Bar Frida whose idea it was to hold the benefit as well as Gib’s dear friends Lee Bright, Derald Long and Chris Winn. If additional donations would like to be made please feel free to email me at seth@clubmanana.com. Well done Vallarta!
