An Evening With Hans King at SETAC Community Center » November 4

An Evening With Hans

by Ed Thomas

SETAC-GLBT Community Center presents an evening with Internationally acclaimed physic medium Hans King at the Abbey Hotel, Pulpito 138 & Olas Altas on the south side of Puerto Vallarta, on Friday, December 4th at 7:30 pm.

hansking05-web

Born in Los Angeles, California, Hans is the oldest of three children. At the age of three he had his first visitation from his first guide, Red Cloud. He remembers having an out-of-body experience, and felt a deep sense of responsibility.

He started out by correctly guessing what his Christmas gifts were going to be, and by giving advice to neighbors several times his age. It wasn’t until he was in the Navy and was directed at seventeen years old to be a staff counselor that the full effect of his guidance emerged.

Upon completion of duty, he focused only on doing private readings. Forty-four years later he is considered one of the best and most respected mediums in the world.

Why haven’t you heard of Hans? Hans has been dedicated to working primarily in one-on-one sessions. Though he engages in very little advertising, his calendar is consistently full by word-of-mouth as well as returning clients – a true testament to the quality of his work and his abilities.

There were no schools, nor any training that could prepare Hans for his unique vocation. In fact, he struggled with attention deficit disorder and dyslexia. He once asked his Guides, “Why do I have such difficulty taking tests and assimilating information?” Their response was, “The more you fill your head with what society wants you to know, the less room there is for us to share our guidance.”

There are many people who remain skeptical about Hans and his abilities. Hans always says that he wouldn’t have a practice without skeptics. “The more skeptical a person is, the harder they fall during a reading. It is amazing how Spirit shows up every time for every reading and every event.”

Hans is greatly humbled by the comfort, healing, and love brought through him. Hans has very little ego, and is the first to say that he does nothing but by the grace of God and the Great Spirit.

Hans Christian King will be holding “An Evening With Hans” at the Abbey Hotel on the south side of Puerto Vallarta, on Friday, December 4th at 7:30 pm. If you wish to attend, please arrive by 7 pm as seating is limited.

Please RSVP by calling the Center at (322) 224-1974 or by sending an email to paco (at) setac.com.mx. To learn more about Hans, visit his website at HansKing.com.

The purpose of the SETAC Puerto Vallarta Gay, Lesbian Bisexual and Transgender (GLBT) Community Center, located at Constitucion #427 on the corner of Manuel Dieguez, is to provide essential services to the GLBT community, including support in recovery from alcoholism and other afflictions, physical and mental health treatment and referrals, education and recreation in an atmosphere of safety, free from discrimination. 1st Annual Ovejas Negras 69 Biker’s Fair » November 27 to 29

Puerto Vallarta – A Biker’s Heaven!
1st Annual Ovejas Negras 69 Biker’s Fair
at the Flamingos Fair Grounds (behind Mega)
November 27 – 29, 2009

by Sylvie Scopazzo

On the weekend of November 27th, the streets of Puerto Vallarta will be roaring with the sounds of revving motorcycles. The “Ovejas Negras 69” will be hosting a biker event located at the Flamingos fair grounds just behind the Plaza Santa Maria near the Mega Commercial Centro.

ovejas-negras69-webThey are expecting up to 1,500 motorbikes from all over Mexico and rumour has it a few bikers from Canada and the States. You don’t need to own a motorcycle to attend this event and unlike most biker events, there is no entrance fee. That’s right. This event is FREE!

The “Ovejas Negras 69” motorcycle club is spread throughout Mexico with a division represented here in Puerto Vallarta. This club accepts all motorcycle riders. Whether you ride a Harley or a Honda, a Crotch Rocket or a Scooter, the way they see it, if it has two wheels and a motor, you’re a biker!

The Puerto Vallarta club is excited about hosting their very first biker event and are grateful to the City for opening their doors and helping them make it happen. For the inauguration of this event, don’t be surprised to see the Mayor of Puerto Vallarta, Javier Bravo making his presence riding on the back of a motorcycle!

What can you expect from the bikers weekend?

On Saturday, November 28th around 4 pm you will begin to hear the roar of bikers as they make their way through the city for their official bike parade.

Besides being able to purchase a variety of motorbike accessories like leather goods and t-shirts etc, you will also have the opportunity to see some great local entertainment.

There will be 5 different bands playing throughout the event! The animation dancers from Hotel Canto Del Sol will also be performing on both Friday night and Saturday night. Their first night’s performance will be dancing to the tune of Rock N’ Roll and their second night will have a Caribbean flavour.

What is the “Ovejas Negras 69” purpose and goal of this event?

The club members want people to understand that Bikers are people that come from all walks of life. They are not the scary characters you may see on the big screen. They are regular citizens who have regular jobs that love to travel on two wheels. In this particular club you will find a doctor, business owners, students, retirees, lawyers and yes, even a folkloric dance teacher!

They also aim to make this event grow with each year as a way to help boost the economy of Vallarta. Just to give you an idea of the magnitude of these biker events, Mazatlan has close to 17,000 bikers who come to town for one weekend of the year. This of course has the locals and business owners grinning from ear to ear!

Everyone is welcome to this event and they encourage families to come out and enjoy all the different styles of bikes. The club members will be available throughout the event to answer any questions or simply to share their biker experiences.

Look for event posters around town and keep a special eye out for Saturday, November 28th around 4 pm. This is when you will begin to hear the roar of bikers as they make their way through the city for their official bike parade. Then again around 1 am, the bikers will take over the Malecón as the street will be closed off to cars. This is the biker’s night out in the town where you will see rows and rows of bikes parked in front of the local bars.

The “Ovejas Negras 69” would like to extend a special thank you to Lorena Lopez from Hotel Canto Del Sol who made it possible for the out of town bikers to enjoy the comforts of a great hotel at a discounted price. The club members would also like to thank the Canto Del Sol animation dancers who are donating their time and talent for this event.

The club would also like to thank the great city of Puerto Vallarta who donated many of their services including the permits department, the traffic police, security and sanitary department.

Lastly, the “Ovejas Negras 69” would like to wish Gus, a safe trip to Argentina. He is a Canadian rider from British Columbia who made a pit stop in Vallarta and decided to prolong his stay for the biker event.

I am happy and proud to say that I am also a part of the “Ovejas Negras 69” bikers club. To date, I am the only woman ‘rider’ in the club and was quickly accepted as an equal. Thanks guys!

2009 Viejo Vallarta (Old Town) Dinner and Show » Saturday, November 14

by Bob Cohen

The Association of Neighbors and Businessmen of Colonia Emiliano Zapata (Asociacion De Vecinos Y Empresarios Viejo Vallarta), is hosting their Fifth Annual International Dinner Show on Saturday, November 14th starting at 7 pm at the popular La Iguana Restaurant and Club in Old Town.

Celebrating their five years as a group whose purpose is to make Viejo Vallarta a better place in all aspects, there will be as the previous four years, more than ample delicious food from participating restaurants from Old Town as well as spectacular entertainment from La Voz Sensacional De Chihuahua, Chihuahua Damiana Con Banda, Voces del Mar, Mikki Prost, “Bums on Broadway”, and Ann Marie from the Santa Barbara Theater among others.

Be prepared, as I found out a few years ago, for a long night full of great food, drink and entertainment. True to the Mexican culture, if one gets there at 11 pm, the party will seem like it’s just getting started. The Association is best known for the many large painted maps of Old Town in different strategic locations that direct tourists to all locations of interest, whether they are members of the association or not. Many responses I have heard were that the maps were informative and valuable to those that utilized them.

Tickets are only $300 pesos for the entire evening that will have many restaurants setting up large samples of their house specialties that keep getting replenished throughout the night. For more information, call locally 223-2102, or one can email viejovallarta (at) hotmail.com.

Tickets can also be purchased at Restaurant El Brujo, Papeleria Limon, Restaurant El Torito, Restaurant San Lucas, Teatro Santa Barbara, Restaurant River Café, Restaurant El Calamar Aventurero, Hotel Ana Liz, Mundo de Azulejo, Restaurant Los Arbolitos or Talleres de La Fuente.

Come out and enjoy the great food and entertainment and if you can’t find the locations to buy a ticket, just look it up on one of the many maps in Old Town.
