Mi Casa Es Tu Casa Festival » April 10

On April 10, 2010, Puerto Vallarta will celebrate the First Mi Casa es Tu Casa Festival. This event is being held to recognize and thank PV’s visitors and foreign community for their support of our local charitable organizations and the work they do to improve the lives of the less fortunate.

MI-CASA-ES-TU-CASA

At 6 pm in the Municipal Plaza, Puerto Vallarta Mayor Salvador Gonzales Resendiz will present awards to some of the outstanding foreign residents whose altruist work and service have made such a difference in the lives of so many in our community.

Each Banderas Bay area charity or non-profit organization is responsible for nominating a person they feel deserves recognition for going “above and beyond” in their efforts for their causes.

At 7 pm the celbration moves to Los Arcos Amphitheater on the Malecón, followed by cocktails and botanas in the Plaza Principal from 8 to 10 pm. Organized by Sra. Nelly Barquet with support from Municipal authorities, CANIRAC and local businesses, this is the first in what we hope will become a yearly event.

CANIRAC will be providing the botanas, but we are asking for the community’s support to make the Mi Casa es Tu Casa Festival as successful as possible. If you need more information, or would like to contribute to the success of this event, please call Sra. Nelly Barquet at (322) 294-1237 or Jhovanee at (322) 356-6028.

“Fiesta Latina” Salsa Festival

The multicultural destination of Puerto Vallarta, Mexico will soon host the 1st annual Salsa Festival “Fiesta Latina.” Scheduled to start at 7 pm on May 4th, 2008, at Sr. Frog’s, Venustiano Carranza #218 in the Romantic Zone, this “Latin Party” is just one of the many cultural events scheduled this May.

Salsa Fiesta Latina

Four famous and Internationally recognized salsa orchestras, Adolescent’s Orquesta de Venezuela, Estrellas de Niche de Cali, Colombia, Chemaney y su Orquesta de México, Tino y su Feeling, whose vocalist is from Venezuela and the rest of the orchestra are talented Mexican musicians.

There will also be spectacular dance performances by local entertainers, bringing the total to over 70 artists to be performing on stage. This is the first time this musical genere will be represented as part of the Puerto Vallarta cultural schedule in its anniversary month of May.

The First Salsa Festival Fiesta Latina is the brainchild of two young business women; one from La Habana, Cuba and the other from Caracas, Venezuela both of whom have been residents of Puerto Vallarta for several years. Brought together by their mutual love for latin music, they combined their ideas to form their company Fiesta Latina Producciones.

After a couple of month designing the project, their dream came true. They are counting on the support of government officials and on the commitment of talented local representatives of the Latin culture like musicians, dancers, designers and an endless list of artists to help them keep the dream alive.

Fiesta Latina Producciones is looking to combine the different Latin communities from different countries that live in Puerto Vallarta, not only the Cubans and Venezuelans, but also the communities that are growing like Argentinian, Colombian, Chilean and Dominicans, among others.

They are hoping that this event will not only make a huge impact in the Puerto Vallarta community, but will also become a permanent part of the city’s traditional Anniversary Celebration, which draws approximately 10,000 people, including locals and visitors, to Puerto Vallarta each May.

For more information, send an email to Puerto Vallarta Tourism Public Relations Coordinator, Nora Ocegueda at nora(at)visitpuertovallarta.com.

May is Fiesta Month – It’s Official….

May is traditionally the most active month of the year, according to the City Government here. It’s one last fling before the humid heat of summer and before the disappearance of the much-welcomed gringo dollars.

The 2008 official schedule of performances is constantly changing so check our daily schedule for the latest updates.

This year there will be fireworks galore (May 30 is the National Fireworks Competition at the Stadium) and a new Art Festival unlike anything Vallarta has seen before (blinders suggested for those of limited vision). There will be 265 performing artists presented on stages in various locations around town in 32 events, food supreme (Restaurant Week), Music ’til your ears ring and dance, dance, dance. All this with or without the local National drink, tequila (tho there will probably be a tequila festival or two thrown in for good measure). Only one event, the performance of the Stuttgart Chamber Orchestra will be charged (150 pesos) and every other event will be free admission.

On the 30th and 31st Vallarta will be celebrating its 90th anniversary. This is traditionally a fine time to be in town.
