Immediately following the movie, a dinner concert featuring Atlantic Jazz and Blues recording artists Billy Vera & the Beaters will kick off this year’s Film Festival at the Playa del Sol Grand Resort in Nuevo Vallarta.
An American singer, songwriter, and music historian, Billy Vera began his career in 1962 as a member of the Resolutions. Singers who have recorded some of Billy’s songs are Bonnie Raitt, Robert Plant, Fats Domino, The Shirelles, Tom Jones, Freda Payne and Little Milton, and Etta James.
Billy also appeared on television and in movies. He and his band were featured in the movie Blind Date, which starred Bruce Willis. Vera also starred in the TV series of Wise Guy, Baywatch, Boy Meets World, Beverly Hills 90210, and the soap opera Days of our Lives. This led him to the composing of songs for Empty Nest, King of Queens, and also voice-overs on Cartoon Network cartoons.
Today, the Beaters are still playing the California club scene. Billy can still sing as well as he did back in the ‘old days,’ which draws a crowd everywhere he and his band perform.
