Disregard most this article. Bar Frida has moved as of February 11 and open once again. For a view of the opening, check out Tracy Park’s blog at Bar Frida’s “Soft” Opening. The *real* grand opening is Friday, February 26. This will be a night (among many, of course) to remember.
Much like Frida Kahlo herself, Bar Frida in Vallarta has become an icon. In it’s nearly 8 years of existence, Bar Frida’s owner Tom Finley and partner Luis have worked to maintain a consistently well run, authentic, Mexican style cantina where all of us can feel comfortable, get a very fair priced drink or cold cerveza and enjoy the kind of camaraderie/socializing that doesn’t exist in too many places these days.
That tradition will continue at their new location with an open air balcony at Insurgentes and Carranza (just one block south of the current location). All of the artwork and fixtures from the will be moved in the next few days to the new location. Watch for a soft opening mid-week and then a special GRAND OPENING and owner Tom Finley’s 65th birthday party (February 25 – the birthday, that is)… all coming soon.
IN THE MEANTIME, everyone is invited to join the staff for one last night of Vallarta memories, bar Frida style. TODAY! (starting at 4pm), Sunday, February 8…. it’s the final, last call at the current Fridas!
