Vallarta Yacht Club holds the 8th Annual Cruisers Charity Chili Cookoff – December 1
They say a Chili Cookoff is about as much fun as a person can stand. This years V.Y.C. Cookoff will be no exception.
All funds raised will be given to Families of the Dump Foundation. Attendees buy tickets to sample the best chili’s on and around Banderas Bay. Chairperson Mary Ladner noted that we already have 12 chili booths signed up and expect more. Most chili competitors dress in costume and serve their gastronomical delights from their theme decorated booths. Awards are given to the best chili (as determined by the most sample tickets sold) in both the Cruiser Division and the Land division.
Last year, the Bolinger’s Queen Ann Chilli took first place, followed by the Chili Chicks, who took second place. Carnes del Mundo won first in the Land Division, followed by Full Sail Canvas, who took second.
If you enjoy great chili and wanta have some food fun, put December 1 down on your calendar. It will be a night to remember.
Although some will tell you that a real chili cookoff can only be held in the great state of Texas, the VYC Volunteers and competitors have been working very hard over the last 8 years to create a similar reputation for the great state of Nayarit.
Most participants interviewed last year said our chili extravaganza was a moving experience, some even ventured to say it was a gas.
The Vallarta Yacht Club is located in Paradise Village at Paseo De Los Cocoteros N° 001 Local #20, Nuevo Vallarta, Nayarit. For more information, or to see photos from last year’s event, visit VallartaYachtClub.com.
