Klaus Mayer Project – Jazz

Klaus Mayer Project in Puerto Vallarta

The quintet of jazzista professionals, who are guided by the Austrian Klaus Mayer, one of the most renowned saxophonists in Guadalajara, will perform at the CECATUR Auditorium, Tuesday, July 15, at 9 pm. The show is sponsored by the municipal government Puerto Vallarta department of Art and Culture and admission is Free.

A sax, bass, guitar, piano and drums create the environment offering jazz music, trying to create an exquisite mixture of the long journey through the history of this genre, and it will sample an elegant fusion of the different movements of this style.

Klaus Mayer, the leader of this group, studied jazz in the U.S. with individual teachers, and at Triton College in Chicago and Orange Coast College in Costa Mesa. He has played with many different sets in styles as diverse as salsa, jazz, bossa nova, rock and popular music.

Klaus has been part of groups such as Zamar Project (jazz), Pneumus (music of silent films), 3 Motherfunkers (funk), Zaico Circus (music and drama), and Guanatos Brass Band (New Orleans jazz).

However, he now has decided to form his own group and that is why this quintet has brought together jazz with the aim of exploring the different facets that this genre offers and above all discover and show their viewers how it has been his evolution through the ages. The Project’s members are not fixed and the players change from time to time to include the best jazzistas in Guadalajara, host city of this concept.

2006 was the year of birth and since then the group has been presented in several forums of the city always innovating and renewing its repertory. Included are songs of the greatest exponents of the genre such as Lee Morgan, Stan Getz, John Coltrane, Gerry Mulligan, to name a few.

Admission is free and seating is limited, hence the need to be punctual, because the doors will be closed when the seats are full. For more information, please go to the facilities of the Cultural Center Cuale or phone at (322) 223-0095.
