Tiësto’s career is punctuated by landmark achievements – the first DJ in the world to sell out a solo stadium event for over 25,000 people 2 nights in a row, he scored a number one hit with his single Traffic, the first instrumental track to reach the top spot in his homeland of Holland in 23 years. His remix of Delerium featuring Sarah McLachlan’s Silence was the first house track ever broadcast on daytime radio in North America, (it became an international dancefloor anthem and also spent eight weeks in the UK top 10 chart). He played live in front of billions of people during the Parade of the Athletes at the official opening ceremony of the Olympic Games in Athens. But despite his meteoric success, Tiësto remains grounded about his achievements and clearly loves making and playing music above the accolades it brings.

Under the direction of Nick Salmons, the non profit chamber orchestra’s March concert features an exciting program with more highlights including “Autumn Ramble,” an original composition by John Robertson, Ravel’s Spanish dance “Pavane pur une infant defunte,” and Beethoven’s Coriolanus Overture.

The Puerto Vallarta Chamber Orchestra has been delighting audiences since 2004. Since its inception, the orchestra has grown to more that twenty members.

The concert will be held at 8 p.m. at the American School (Colegio Americana). Entry is by optional donations which are used to offset orchestral expenses such as the purchase of music, transportation costs of musicians and equipment, payment for light and sound equipment and staff.

Karaoke at Café Roma

There are small, hidden restaurants/bars in Puerto Vallarta with surprising amounts of talent on display. This is a Canadian-run Bar with a very friendly, accommodating atmosphere. “Fox” runs the place and Juan Carlos keeps things working. You can’t beat the team. And the pizzas are great.

I used to thinnk that I hated karaoke until I saw it at Café Roma.

Karaoke every Tuesday and Friday night from 6 to 9.
