“Allegro” en los Arcos del Malecón » December 28 to 30

To close this year the Vallarta Arts and Culture Department has prepared three days of music, dance and fun for all who are in the city.

The first night, December 28, the all-Vallartense band, Allegro, with Amauri on bass, Jorge Ortega on drums, Cesar on the keyboard, the vocals of Vanesa, four players who already have a long history and have also been part of important bands in Puerto Vallarta and in different parts of the country.

Performances will be from December 28 to December 30 at the Los Arcos Amphitheater on the Malecón at 8 pm and they are free.

Boca Floja Concert & Poetry » December 19, 6 pm

Near the corner of av Mexico and Guatemala Streets (Parque Urbano – with the graffitti of “Recuerda quién eres”) at the north end of Downtown Puerto Vallarta, Mexican Hip Hop underground artist and poet Boca Floja will present a concert and present his book, IMARGINACION, on Friday, December 19 at 6 pm. 35 pesos.

What better ways to get into the holiday spirit than delighting in the fabulous Christmas music performed by some of the most talented young musicians of Puerto Vallarta?

Come relish in Vallarta’s music talent at its best in our city’s landmark – our beautiful Guadalupe church, with its wonderful acoustics and join us for two concerts on December 22 and 23 – at 9 p.m.

On the 22nd, enjoy the magic violin of Daniel Juárez and the lyrical piano of Alejandro Villarreal, in a recital that is sure to satisfy the most demanding of the classical music lovers …

Then on the 23rd rejoice in a concert given by the Maestoso Ensamble, a young chamber orchestra conducted by Alejandro Villarreal, performing Christmas classics and pieces by Antonio Vivaldi, Arcangelo Corelli, Johann Pachelbel, Francesco Manfredini and other baroque classics!

Two concerts – not to be missed! Beautiful heavenly music in a church for Christmas! With our very own gifted musicians bringing you the best of the holidays!

Jazz Concert Wednesday, Nov 19, at CyCs

The group Faralae from Mexico City will perform on Wednesday, November 19 at CyCs on Los Muertos Beach. They play gypsy jazz in the style of Django Reinhardt. Three of the four members, two guitarists and a female vocalist, are in PV on vacation. They played at CyC recently and I filled in for their bass player. They are all extremely talented and a lot of fun.

Also, the concert is scheduled for Wednesday as some of the musicians from the Carnival cruise may attend and play, providing they are allowed to bring their instruments ashore.

Some of Puerto Vallarta’s outstanding local musicians will help Cuates y Cuetes celebrate this 15th anniversary with the jazz concert from 5:00 – 10:00 p.m. inside of the restaurant. Performers include Martin Montenegro, Paco Barajas, Memo Suarez, Steve York and Lisa York, along with the Mexico City group, Faralae.
